Student Requirements for an HVAC/R Scholarship at RSI:

  • An HVAC/R scholarship cannot be applied toward tuition and fees until you have met all normal admissions requirements and received a training start date.
  • Placement in a class or shift is dependent on availability. If you are placed in and apply your scholarship to one shift or program, you can’t transfer it to another one

Scholarships for Women in HVAC/R Training Programs

What is it?

  • The Women in HVACR organization has a technical trade school scholarship for females currently enrolled in a trade school preparing them to enter into the HVACR industry.

When is it?

  • Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis.
  • Applications should apply before June 1st and the recipients will be selected around July or August of the same year

Who can apply?

  • Female students currently enrolled in a college or trade school preparing them to enter into the HVACR industry.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater

Scholarships for Students in HVAC/R Training Programs

Rees Scholarship Foundation

The Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation was created to support the competency and recruitment of future HVAC/R technicians. The foundation advances this goal by awarding scholarships to eligible students of institutionally accredited heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration programs. Since 2003, the Rees Scholarship Foundation has awarded about $440,000 to over 250 students. Scholarships of up to $2,000 each are awarded through the foundation each year to HVAC/R students. Winners also receive a free ICE test through Rees’ partnership with North American Technical Excellence (NATE).v

What is it?

  • The HVAC/R and Water Heating Technician program is a scholarship for students
    enrolled in HVAC/R training programs at institutionally accredited schools.

When is it?

  • Applications for the HVAC/R and Water Heating Technician program scholarship are accepted all year. There are two review deadlines:
    • Fall Semester Application Deadline: October 1
    • Spring Semester Application Deadline: June 1

Who can apply?

  • HVAC/R students attending an institutionally accredited trade school.vi

How to apply?

  • Apply online. Complete the application form, including a 500-word essay, questions about your background and two letters of recommendation.
  • Mail your sealed, official transcripts from high school, college or university to the

What is it?

  • Scholarships for those who competed in the SkillsUSA Championships in the HVAC/R category and won an official award.

When is it?

  • Finalists in the SkillsUSA Championships in the HVAC/R category may claim their scholarship award after the competition.
  • The 57th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference and SkillsUSA Championships will be held virtually in 2021. Select skills competitions will have localized hands-on elements. The conference is scheduled for June 21-24, 2021.

Who can apply?

  • Individuals who competed in the SkillsUSA Championships contest in the HVAC/R category and won an official awardvii

How to apply?

  • Winners of the SkillsUSA Championships contest in the HVAC/R category may claim their award by completing and submitting an award acceptance form through the Rees portalviii

The Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors (PHCC) National Auxiliary Scholarships

The PHCC Auxiliary is a community of the PHCC Association. It is a national group of men and women working together to promote and advance the goals of the PHCC Association through communication, cooperation and educationxii. Educational initiatives include:

  • Fundraising
  • Producing educational materials
  • Holding events to spread awareness about careers in the plumbing, heating and cooling industry
  • Distributing scholarships and grants for students in PHC trainingxiii

What is it?

  • A scholarship for students pursuing training for careers in plumbing, heating and cooling. In a typical year, more than 20 individual scholarships are awarded, totaling more than $40,000xiv

When is it?

  • The deadline for applications for the 2021 National Auxiliary General Scholarship is June 15, 2021, for classes starting the following fallxv

Who can apply?

  • High school seniors planning on attending a plumbing or HVAC training program
    and full-time students who are already enrolled in such programs.
  • A National Auxiliary member must recommend you in order to qualify for the scholarship.

What is it?

  • A scholarship of $500 or more for employees of PHCC National Association members who are pursuing training for careers in plumbing, heating or cooling.

When is it?

  • The deadline for the National Auxiliary Bradford White Industry Scholarship application is June 15, 2021.

Who can apply?

  • Employees of PHCC National Association members. Employers must be paid members of the PHCC for a period of two years, including the current year.
  • Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited plumbing, heating or cooling program that is registered with the Department of Labor.
  • The scholarship award must be applied for the following fall semester or upcoming spring semester.
