Welcome to the Refrigeration School tuition planning guide. There is a lot of information to understand when it comes to funding education. Our goal is to make Financial Aid easy to understand. Often, the process to secure funding for school can be completed in just a few short days if you follow our guide.
A team of advisors are available to help you with any questions you may have.

Dependent Guide
If you are considered a dependent student for FAFSA® purposes, you will need to provide information about your legal parent(s) on the application. A legal parent is your biological or adoptive parent, or your legal parent as determined by the state (for example, if the parent is listed on your birth certificate). If you have a stepparent currently married to your legal parent, you generally also must provide information about him or her. Follow the roadmap below to get started on your application. Click on the boxes to get more information about each step in the roadmap. Frequently Asked Questions
Your dependency status determines whose information you must report on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form.
- If you’re a dependent student, you will report both yours and your parent’s information.
- If you’re an independent student, you will report your own information (and, if you’re married, your spouse’s).
Watch this video to determine if you should file dependently or independently.
If you’re still not sure how to file, you can fill out this checklist to determine your status, or get more information here.
For more help with your FSA ID or FAFSA questions, check out the video library:
If you are selected for verification you will be sent a document to confirm the information listed on the FAFSA. If you were not successful in using the IRS Data retrieval tool or were a non-tax filer, you may be required to obtain transcripts from the IRS.
If your parents are not citizens and are without a social security number, you will want to enter zeros in the SSN field for the parent. You will need to print the signatures page of the FAFSA, have the parent sign, and return the physical copy to the campus.
We encourage all students to apply for any scholarships or grants they may be eligible for outside of the Refrigeration School. Your high school counseling office and/or the internet are great places to search.
If you are approved for an alternative funding loan or have a credit balance, you may be able to request funding above the cost of tuition to assist in living and education related expenses. This funding can be released to you over the course of the program. You may need an approved co-signer for the loan, so talk to family or friends that may be willing to help.
