All about RSI
In 1965, The Refrigeration School (RSI) started out as a Phoenix, AZ trade school specializing in HVAC and Refrigeration career training only. Since then, we’ve expanded to include career programs for Welding and Electrical/Electrical-Mechanic technologies.
The RSI campus is located in the Phoenix metropolitan area and includes 26,000 square feet of training facilities, including classrooms, labs, support services, and shops.

Refrigeration Technologies
Program Duration: 6 MonthsA career in climate control could happen even faster with this shorter program. In just 6 months, get hands-on training in diagnosing, servicing and repairing equipment as well as mechanical and electrical principles. Plus, the RSI network of support systems helps you achieve your goals fast.

Program Duration: 9 monthsClimate control and electricity are everywhere, and you could prepare for a career as an Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration technician and Maintenance Electrician all in the same 9 month training program! The EMT program at RSI also includes an overview of the sciences behind solar-powered systems. This kind of cross training could mean more job stability with faster upward mobility.

Program Duration: 7 monthsThe Welding Specialist program prepares a graduate for entry level positions in structural, pipe and pipeline, and thin alloy welding. Key welding processes include SMAW (stick), GMAW/FCAW (MIG/Fluxcore), and GTAW (TIG) welding procedures. Students learn welding safety, torch cutting processes, proper arc welding equipment setup, important welding control techniques, fundamental welding processes, and basic welding metallurgy. This intense program is primarily lab based and focuses on developing critical welding skills.

Welcome to The Refrigeration School (RSI)!
We’re proud to celebrate 60 years of training skilled trades professionals right here in Arizona. Since opening our doors in 1964, RSI has been dedicated to empowering individuals with the education and training they need to secure in-demand careers and create brighter futures for themselves and their families. With programs in HVAC/Refrigeration (residential and commercial), Electrical, and Welding, all of which can be completed in under a year—some in as few as 6 or 7 months—we are committed to helping our students launch rewarding careers in the skilled trades.
At RSI, we don’t just teach technical skills; we’re deeply invested in the success of our students and our community. Our graduates are meeting the increasing demand(4) for skilled trades professionals, not just in Arizona but across 40 states nationwide(ii). We proudly collaborate with many organizations, associations and employers that provide on-campus resources, supplies and career opportunities. Additionally, we are honored to work alongside Indigenous populations and other underserved communities to ensure access to quality education and training that empowers individuals to become self-sustaining members of society.
