Do you live in Arizona and  considering your post-secondary education options? You can choose a 4-year college or trade school? Why trade schools? They offer a quality education at an affordable price. So, how much does trade school cost in Arizona?

How Much Do Trade Schools Cost in Arizona?

Compared to the cost of a 4-year degree, which can be $30,000 to $40,000, not including room and board, books, supplies, and commuting costs, the national average for attending trade school can be less than half of that cost1. The Refrigeration School (RSI) tuition includes supplies, lab fees, gear package, accident insurance and technology fees that can be added costs at other schools.

The following is a breakdown of the cost of trade schools in Arizona:

Tuition – the bulk of the cost is for tuition. At RSI, tuition2 costs are as follows:

  • Electrical Application $17,400
  • Refrigeration Technologies $17,400
  • Electro-Mechanical Technologies $21,000
  • AOS in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering $12,000
  • Welding Specialist $18,700

The tuition cost for each program includes funds for course materials, textbooks, lab feeds, gear package, accident insurance, and technology fees. Those on active-duty and veterans pay 10% less in tuition and may be eligible for military educational benefits.

Lab Fees – There is a $2,000 lab fee for electrical, HVAC, and welding programs. This covers the equipment cost, instructor time, and all the other expenses associated with hands-on experience in a lab setting.

Gear Package – since trade professionals need safety gear, there is a one-time cost of $1,800. This allows students to get welding face shields, gloves, fire-resistant clothing, and other gear to learn the trade safely during program training.

Accident Insurance – RSI includes $100 for accident insurance with the cost of the program, just in case.

Technology Fee – part of the training program includes computers, technology, and virtual reality. This technology costs are $500.

Room & Board – For students who commute from home, there is a travel fee and the cost of living for food, gas, and incidentals. Students who live off campus can expect to pay $1,000 to $1,500 in rent and $300 in travel each month.

Why Attend Trade School?

Trade schools offer students a unique advantage because they receive hands-on experience in a highly demanded trade. Unlike a four-year college, trade schools focus on a specific trade and can be completed in less time. The Refrigeration School (RSI) also helps graduates find jobs after graduation.
