You Were Laid Off

Many employees were laid off during the pandemic, and while unemployment in Phoenix is at its lowest level in decades, many workers still can’t make ends meet. Whether unemployed or underemployed, there are many stories of employees that work two or three jobs, just to pay the bills.

If you are considering transitioning to a new career, consider a trade career. Trade professionals enjoy lucrative salaries and flexible hours.

Burnt Out

Some of us have worked hard for years but want a new challenge. Trade careers are never dull and offer room for advancement.

Tired of going to an office and getting stuck in the grind of the 9-to-5? Try becoming an HVAC technician, welder, or electrician.

No Room for Advancement

If you are working a dead-end job, it can be hard to get excited about going to work in the morning.

If you want to advance in your career, consider becoming a trade professional. With some work experience and education, you can go from an apprentice to a journeyman in a few years.

As a journeyman level trade professional, you can manage apprentices of your own and enjoy the perks of management.

Need a Better Work/Life Balance

If you have a family to take care of, want to spend time working on a hobby, or just don’t want to work 50+ hours a week to pay the bills, a trade career can offer a better work/life balance.

Many trade professionals work regular hours. However, there are opportunities for flexibility to work evenings and weekends if you have other responsibilities to manage.

Becoming a trade professional will give you a better work/life balance if that is something you want out of your job.

What Careers are in Demand?

Many careers are in demand, from healthcare and business to the construction trades. The Refrigeration School focuses on trade jobs, including HVAC, electrician, and welding. All three trade professionals are in demand.

HVAC Technician

Many HVAC technicians are at retirement age, and this has spurred the need for additional HVAC technicians. Employment for HVAC technicians in the United States is expected to grow by 5 percent in the coming decade.*

Electrician

Nearly every building and residential home needs electricity. The boom in construction in Phoenix has cause a need for highly trained electricians to manage these electrical applications. With this increase in demand, employment of electricians is expected to grow 7 percent in the coming decade.** Plus, with the transfer to alternative energy, more residences are taking advantage of solar energy.

Welder

With the increase in infrastructure repair, there is a need for welding specialists to manage our crumbling bridges, highways, and buildings. In as little as 7 months, you can train in structural welding and start working on the country’s infrastructure. You will also learn fundamental welding techniques like SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW. With this knowledge, you could help Phoenix build and repair structures that are popping up in the Valley of the Sun.
