Did you know that you may be eligible for educational scholarships and grants to attend trade school in Arizona? Finding the funds to afford an education can be challenging, but The Refrigeration School offers financial aid staff to help you apply for scholarships and grants that you may be eligible for.
What is a Grant?
A grant is money paid to you by the government for educational purposes. Unlike a loan, grants are not paid back. Many grants are based on financial need.

Federal Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant1 is awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in a post-secondary institution. The award is based on financial need and the cost of the training program. You can determine your eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. The financial assistance staff at The Refrigeration School (RSI) can help you fill out the form and remind you of the annual FAFSA deadline.
What is a Scholarship?
Scholarships, like grants, are not paid back after graduation. They are based on many factors made up of merit and need-based eligibility.
2024 Vocational Education Scholarships in Arizona
RSI supports students who apply for scholarship opportunities. Some of the scholarships offered to RSI students include:
Second Chance Scholarship – given to students that are returning to the same program. The student will write an essay explaining why the want another chance to complete the program.
Reclaim Your Dream Scholarship – students that have enrolled but did not start are eligible for this StrataTech Education Group program. Students must be enrolled in a program that is at least 25 weeks long and not graduated from TWS or RSI previously.
Relocation Scholarship – students must enroll in a program that is at least 25 weeks long and need to relocate from more than 100 miles from RSI solely to attend school. Applicants will complete an essay with their educational objectives, career goals, and how the scholarship will help them attain a vocational education.
Welding Scholarship – There are a few scholarships that are offered by the American Welding Society to support trade professionals completing a Welding program.
HVAC Scholarships – Rees Scholarship Foundation is a scholarship offered to students in an HVAC/R training program. There is also a SkillsUSA scholarship program for HVAC/R students that compete in hands-on skills competition.
Lineworker Scholarship – The American Public Power Association’s Demonstration of Energy & Efficiency Development (DEED) educational scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a career in an electric utilities role.
Vocational Education Scholarships – RSI offers a scholarship to applicants that meet the standards of admission requirements to start training. There is also a TrustedPros.com scholarship to support contractors working in home improvement.
Military Scholarships – scholarships are offered to active-duty service members, veterans, and military spouses and children. They include the Image America Foundation, Army Women’s Foundation, and Anchor Scholarship Foundation.
