Texas HVACR Industry Outlook
Having five months out of the year with average temperatures over 80 degrees, air conditioning is very important in Texas. The HVACR professionals that install, maintain, and repair these systems are in high demand in most areas of the state. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the outlook for this position is excellent not only in Texas, but all over the country.
Career as a HVACR Professional in Texas
Being a trained HVACR professional does not mean that you will spend all of your days installing and repairing air quality units, although that is an option. The training you receive from a technical or vocational school will involve heating systems, cooling systems, and refrigeration systems. Your training should also include electrical principles, mechanical principles, residential air conditioning, advanced air conditioning techniques, refrigeration techniques, and advanced trouble-shooting techniques. With all of this knowledge, your career options are limitless.
HVACR Career Training
Completion of a technical or vocational training program can take nine to fourteen months, possibly more. The length of training is based on class availability and the diploma or degree program desired. Besides a certificate of completion, there is also an associate’s degree available in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering that would require a longer training period. Throughout your HVAC education there will be opportunities to take important certification tests that can enhance your future career and earnings.
