RSI is a Great Training Option for Everyone

Learn more about how we can prepare you to advance your career.

As the United States pushes for more energy efficiency and less dependence on “old” forms of energy, a new industry is beginning to boom around the installation and maintenance of solar panels. As this new industry continues to grow, there will be a need for properly trained and certified individuals to perform the work. If you are interested in this field, consider training with The Refrigeration School.

RSI offers solar training as part of their on campus programs that include hands on training in combination with textbook lessons. Students who are looking for basic information on solar technologies can take the Solar Power and Technology course offered completely online, from the comfort of their own home. RSI’s online solar training is recognized by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners or NABCEP, the agency that certifies solar panel installers. (The Solar Power and Technology Course online is a continuing education course that does not fall under the purview of the standards of accreditation, therefore this course is not accredited as accreditation is not required.)

Solar panels, inverters, mounts and meters all have to be hauled on to the rooftops or the site where they are to be installed. The installation process starts by securing the mounting rods onto the roof. The length of time this takes varies and depends on the type of roofing. It is easier done on sheet metal roofing and a lot harder on tiled roofs. Then the panels are likewise installed. Alignment has to be checked every step of the way. Once the mounting rods are secured, the panels are carefully screwed on top of the rods.

Agility May be Required

Solar panels would be useless if not wired properly, and faulty wiring may cause accidental fires. Solar panel installers have to carefully wire the panels onto the inverter. Without the inverter, the power of the sun will not be transformed into electricity. Then, all of the wiring must be secured and hidden, excess metal pieces have to be snipped off, tools kept organized, and debris has to be collected and cleaned. This is why solar panel installation training is important for anyone considering this area as a profession.
